Computer Filled With 6 Deadly Malware Fetches $1.2 M Bid in Auction

The ‘world’s most dangerous’ laptop filled with six different harmful viruses goes up for auction and fetches over $1.2 million bid. This computer is filled with deadly viruses that have caused an estimated $95 billion in damages worldwide. Mind behind this amazing recollection of ransomware viruses is an internet artist, Guo O Dong who developed it with Cybersecurity company, Deep Instinct. According to the creator, It is an art work which shows that such viruses can have physical impact as well. It is undoubtedly the most dangerous computer in the world which is why it has been named as “The Persistence of Chaos”. This alleged ‘piece of art’ is a 2008 Samsung NC10 laptop with 14GB storage that runs on Microsoft Windows XP service pack 3.

It is not a Dooms day tool but an absolute creation of art. Keeping in mind that it could also be used for the Academic purposes, it’s currently isolated and air-gapped to prevent foul any kind of play. This unique piece of art weighs 2.8lbs and comes with a power cord and restart script. It is loaded with six of the world’s deadliest viruses responsible for causing financial damages totalling $95 billion! To be precise the name of those viruses currently residing in ordinary 10.2-inch Samsung NC10-14GB laptop (The Persistence of Chaos) are : ILOVEYOU, WannaCry, DarkTequila, MyDoom, SoBig, BlackEnergy

ILOVEYOU – It is a nasty Ransomware virus that has been spread through spam emails and network file sharing. It has affected more than 500,000 computers worldwide and caused an estimated damage of $15 billion. This virus was huge at time of its launch that it has created a sensation. It has caused an approximate $5.5 billion in damages in the first week.

WannaCry – It is an extremely violent Ransomware infection that can also create backdoor on the system. It is a crypto malware which encrypt your files and demand ransom money to give you the decryption key. It has affected 200,000+ computers across 150 countries and caused a total damage close to $4 billion. It has alone caused the National Health Service in England $100 million damage.

DarkTequila – It is a dangerous Trojan virus that has caused a severe damage by its notorious actions. It is mainly data stealing Trojan malware that specially attacks that banking system. It had stolen bank credentials and corporate data even while offline. It has mainly targeted Latin America and caused damage worth of millions.

MyDoom – It is a custom build Russian email virus. It was on the fastest spreading worm that has infection million of users. This virus spread so fast and effects are so harmful that it was also called Dooms day virus. It is projected that this nasty virus has caused an estimated of $38 billion in damages.

SoBig – It is the another Trojan on the list that has circulated through emails as viral spam. This nasty malware can easily your copy files and email itself to others. It can also severely damage the computer’s software/hardware. It is known for causing a whooping $37 billion in damages in a very short time.

BlackEnergy – It is another very nasty and deadly computer worm. It is a very sophisticated rootkit infection which uses process-injection techniques, robust encryption, and a modular architecture known as a “dropper”. It can easily drop other threats and malware on the infection computer. BlackEnergy was used in a Cyber attack that caused a massive blackout in Ukraine in December 2015.
